Hi, I’m Meghan, founder and host of The House of Poets.
Before I wrote my first poem, I was frozen in beliefs that had me grasping for validation beyond myself.
Like many of us, I dimmed my light and muffled my truth to feel more loved and accepted by others.
But I was exhausted, and I felt like I was doomed to shapeshifting forever – always contorting myself to feel a fleeting sense of belonging.
But when I picked up my pen for the first time?
I was home.
Every single bit of me was bubbling up to the surface of the page – and to my surprise, I was able to meet each bit with gentleness. The parts of me I once rejected, the emotions I once shielded from the world, were being stitched together into a glorious patchwork of self-devotion/self-love/worthiness.
Poetry showed me that to be raw in your self-expression is quite literally the key to healing. It’s when we surrender to all of our polarity that we find wholeness. Because healing is not ‘perfecting’ or ‘making sense’ of who we are, it’s accepting who we are and loving who that is in all its funky iterations.
